1. Who we are
Jobsearchers, a subsidiary of Machron Tech (“Jobsearchers”, “we”, “us”) runs jobsearchers.in, its mobile apps and related services. For the personal data described here we are the Data Fiduciary under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the rules made under it.
This notice explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. It applies to candidates, employers and visitors.
2. What we collect and why
We collect only what each feature needs. You choose what to give; if you do not provide something, only the feature that needs it stops working.

3. Connected email (Gmail and Outlook)
Connecting your email is optional. If you choose to, we ask Google or Microsoft for read-only access (we cannot send, delete or change anything), and we look only for job-related emails: messages from companies and hiring platforms about applications, assessments, interviews, offers and decisions.
From those emails we keep the company, the role, the application status and the date, plus the sender's domain and the subject line so you can see why your tracker changed. We do not store the content of your emails or any attachments. The short preview your provider gives us is read once to understand the email and then discarded. Access tokens are stored encrypted.
Jobsearchers' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information from your email is used only to show you your own applications. It is never used for advertising, never used to rank your job recommendations, never used to train AI or machine-learning models, never sold, and never shown to employers or anyone else. Our staff cannot read it except, with your permission, to help you with a problem, or where the law requires.
Disconnect anytime from My applications. We revoke our access where the provider allows it (Google does; for Outlook we also show you where to remove it in your Microsoft account) and delete everything we found in your email, including the applications detected from it.
4. Personalisation
When you are signed in as a candidate, we use your own activity with jobs (the jobs you view, save, apply to, open on a company's site, tailor a resume for, or mark “Not interested”) together with your profile to choose and order your Recommended for you jobs. Each recommendation shows the reason it was picked. Recent activity counts more than older activity, and only the last 90 days is used.
This is used only to show you jobs. It is never shown to employers, never sold, and not used for advertising.
You are in control: switch “Personalise my feed” off on your dashboard at any time. While it is off, your activity is not linked to you and your recommendations use only your profile. “Clear my history” permanently deletes your stored activity. We delete activity older than 12 months automatically.
If you are not signed in, we record activity only if you accepted analytics cookies, and then only against a random session id, never your name.
5. Consent and lawful use
We process your data with your consent, which you give when you create an account, upload a resume, apply to a job, or subscribe to emails. Each of these is a separate, specific purpose. We also process data for “legitimate uses” the DPDP Act permits, such as complying with law or a court order.
You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it: delete your resume or profile details in your account, unsubscribe from any email, turn off notifications on your device, or ask us to delete your account (see Your rights). Withdrawal does not undo processing that already happened, and some features will stop working.
6. Who we share it with
- Employers you apply to receive your profile, resume and application. They then hold that data themselves and are responsible for it under the DPDP Act. We never share your profile with an employer you did not apply to.
- Service providers that run the service on our behalf, under contract and only for our purposes: hosting and storage, email delivery, Google and LinkedIn sign-in (only if you choose them), Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense for ads. Clarity records how pages are used (clicks, scrolling); everything on signed-in and resume pages, and anything you type, is masked before it leaves your device. Analytics and ad cookies are set only with your consent (see Cookie Policy).
- Authorities, when Indian law or a valid order requires it.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with recruiters or agencies for marketing.
7. Data shared by colleges
Placement cells may upload student details (such as name, email, course and graduation year) so students can be matched with fresher roles. The college confirms it has informed its students and has their consent to share this data with us. If you are a student and did not expect this, write to support@jobsearchers.in: we will tell you what we hold and delete it on request.
8. How long we keep it
- Account, profile and resume: while your account is open. When you delete your account we erase them within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something longer.
- Applications: while your account is open. Copies already sent to employers are held by those employers.
- Resume-scan records and security logs: 1 year, as the DPDP Rules require for logs, then deleted.
- Anonymous reviews and salary reports: kept after account deletion, with the link to your account removed.
- Newsletter and alerts: until you unsubscribe.
- Anonymous usage events: up to 2 years. They are not linked to your name.
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- Access: a summary of the personal data we hold about you and who we shared it with.
- Correction and completion: most details you can edit yourself in your profile.
- Erasure: deletion of your data once it is no longer needed for the purpose you consented to.
- Withdraw consent at any time (see above).
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to.
- Grievance redressal: a response from us, and then a complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
How: email support@jobsearchers.in from the address on your account (so we can verify it is you) with the subject “Data request”. We reply within 30 days, and always within the 90 days the DPDP Rules allow.
10. Security and breaches
All traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Access to personal data is limited to people who need it to run the service, and access logs are kept for a year so misuse can be traced.
If a personal data breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India without delay, as the DPDP Rules require: what happened, what data was involved, what we are doing, and what you can do.
11. Children
Jobsearchers is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, write to support@jobsearchers.in and we will delete it.
12. Where your data is processed
Your data is processed in India and, through some providers (such as Google), in other countries. We do not transfer personal data to any country the Government of India restricts under the DPDP Act.
13. Cookies
We use a few essential cookies (for example, to keep you signed in) and, only if you agree, advertising cookies. The Cookie Policy lists them and lets you change your choice.
14. Contact and complaints
Our Grievance Officer handles privacy questions and complaints: support@jobsearchers.in, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. We acknowledge within 24 hours. The full process is on the Grievance Redressal page.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
15. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy materially, we will tell you by email or on the site before the change applies, and ask for fresh consent where the law requires. The version and date at the top show which text is current.
